Blog Post #3

In the article, I Want a Wife by Judy Brady (Brady 360)  the author makes it sound like women are entitled to their husbands. That a women must be the perfect stereotypical house wife. She must tend to her husbands every need, and fulfill every household duty without a complaint. The author is saying a wife should put her husbands needs before her own, even if that means taking the kids and moving to another home because he has found a new more suitable wife. The author's purpose of writing this article is to show that wives do a lot for their families, but they should not have unrealistic expectations. No body should expect one partner to pull all the weight.

In the second article, Men - It's in Their Nature by Christina Sommers the author is saying that boys behaving like boys is not a bad thing. There has been scientific research and studies done proving that you can't change the ways boys act. Gender equality experts are trying to force boys and girls to act the same, when they are not in most cases. Instead of trying to free boys from male stereotypes, people should start empowering healthy masculinity! Like to build not destroy or to channel aggression into sports.(Sommers

I am going to do my analysis essay on Men - Its in Their Nature. I think it will be interesting to look into what other activities gender equality experts are trying to force in schools. And more about the research done proving boys and girls for the most part are not the same.

Blog Post #2 describe a favorite Place

A couple years ago I got to explore a place I'll never forget.
Walking along this beach made me feel at peace with myself; and really cleared my mind.  The sun was setting which gave the clouds a coral pink appearance, while the sky had begun its transformation from a blue down to orange yellow. The once clear rocks in this distance  became only a  dark shadow that I could recognize. The ocean was dark blue, almost black as the sun went down. It seemed to stretch on forever. The mass body of water was clam, as it slowly crashed on the shore. I could hear the sound of seagulls squawking in the distance, for they had found their resting place for the night. Also, the sound of the wind tickled my ears as it wooshed on past me.The strong breeze made the hair on my skin rise up, and the hair on my head cover my entire face to where only a hair tie could keep it contained  My feet that were once sunken into soft warm sand now felt icy and the tickle of sand fleas that were hopping throughout the whole beach. . The salty smell of the ocean filled the inside of my nose as I breathed in, and as I exhale it is almost as if I can taste the ocean. Once the sun has completely sat, the night sparkled of dazzling stars. I sit down on a large desk sized log and looked for recognizable constellations like the big dipper, and Cassiopeia. As the night continued I take in the beauty of my surroundings and I think to myself, this is what peace is.

Discussion 1 - Destroyed review

Summarize

In the article "Destroyed" by Peter F Martin, he talks about how Steroids and other enhancers are a real problem when it comes to sports. Martin includes that sports today are full of cheaters, and athletes are ruining the purity of sports. Like how back in the Olympian days, it was all about natural skill. Clothes weren't even worn. Martin also talks about how not only are steroids ruining the game for the fans, but it is also endangering the lives of the Athletes. Steroids and other enhancers have bad long-term effects on athletes. After they have retired, athletes have had heart attacks and have died. Martin wants people to realize that its not just the honesty of the game that people should be concerned about, they should also be worried about how dangerous these enhancers are.

Paraphrase

In paragraph 10 Martin talks about how although Steroids and other enhancers are ruining the honesty of sports, we don't realize what they are doing to the athletes. People are to focused on the fact of athletes soiling the purity of the games; no one is realizing what athletes are willing to do to please their fans. That athletes are really risking their health taking these enhancers. (Martin 582)

Quote

"Nothing but grass and human flesh on any field where fair play is to be found." (Martin 581) This really emphasizes the way sports were meant to be played. Completely natural, without the help of some human manufactured drug. In my mind it makes me kind of think that because athletes now a day are not following the rules of being apart of a sport, they are punished. They are punished with damage to their bodies from the enhancers.
